The pristine sandy shores provide a picturesque setting for your Caribbean vacation, complete with stunning cliffs, rock jetties, and the sparkling blue waters of the Caribbean Sea. Spend a quiet day lounging on the isolated Long Bay Beach on Providenciales, also called "Provo," or search for pretty sea shells on sparkling sugar-sand beaches on Salt Cay. The beaches at Belle Sound on South Caicos will take your breath away, with lagoonlike waters. On the opposite side of the ridge from Belle Sound, Long Bay is an endless stretch of beach, but it can be susceptible to rough surf; however, on calmer days this stretch makes you feel you're on a deserted island. Due south of South Caicos is Big Ambergris Cay, an uninhabited cay about 14 mi (23 km) beyond the Fish Cays, with a magnificent beach at Long Bay. To the north of South Caicos, uninhabited East Caicos has a beautiful 17-mi (27-km) beach on its north coast. The island was once a cattle range and the site of a major sisal-growing industry. Both places are accessible only by boat.
